Greenwood (16 August 1973)
The Senior Citizens of Greenwood will meet today (Thursday) in the Clark
Electric auditorium at 7 p.m. Members are asked to bring ideas for a bus trip to
be discussed at this meeting. John Zagozen will show pictures taken on a trip to
Hawaii.
Mrs. Irvin Carl will entertain members of the ladies Aid of Trinity Lutheran
Church in the church basement today (Thursday) at 1:30 p.m.
Mrs. Eunice Froelich of Barrington, Il., is spending several weeks here with her
sisters, Mrs. Florence Schwarze and Mrs. Viv Carteron, and other relatives in
the area.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Olsen were recent guests at the home of former Greenwood
residents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Meinhardt, in Sheboygan Falls.
Graham Poirier was dismissed Saturday from Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.
Mrs. Elaine Blaettler left Sunday after spending a week with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Claude Catlin, at Loyal, and with her sister, Mrs. Leon Kuester and
family. Mrs. Blaettler joined a tour to Mexico until August 24, when she will
return to her home in San Diego, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Rohde and sons, Dean and Douglas, returned to River Falls
Monday after spending a week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart, and
other relatives.
Mrs. Freddie Johnson and daughters, bonnie and Julie, of Rockford, Il., and Mrs.
Durward Schwarze of Granton, were Sunday supper guests of Mrs. Eleanor Plank.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Olsen spent from Friday until Monday at the home of their
foster son, Charles Gibson, in Plymouth. While there, they were present at the
baptism of Shawn Michael Gibson.
Mr. and Mrs. Duane Stewart, Patti Jo, Robert and Kathryn, returned to
Springfield, Va., Monday after visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Stewart, and other relatives.
Saturday the birthday of Mrs. William Kuester was celebrated at her home.
Present were her daughter, Mrs. Douglas Luther of Merrill, and grandchildren,
Mr. and Mrs. Mark Wolk and children of Stevens Point. Guests Sunday were her
son, Leon Kuester and family; William Goeke and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Catlin.
Monday afternoon neighbors helped Mrs. Kuester celebrate her birthday, also.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tolaney visited his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Tony Tolaney, in Stevens Point Sunday.
The Plunkett family reunion was held at the Plunkett farm in Tomah Saturday and
Sunday. 100 members were present. Mrs. Harry Plunkett had spent a week in Tomah
preparing for the get-together. Mr. and Mrs. Plunkett returned Monday,
accompanied by their grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Zank and son, Matthew and
Allen, and Kathy Plunkett, who returned to Milwaukee Tuesday; and Jim Plunkett
and Jeff Rahn, who returned to Milwaukee Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jakobi of New Berlin arrived Saturday to spend their vacation
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Jakobi and with his sister, Mrs. Roger
Liebzeit and family.
