Chapman, Blanche J. (27 October 1924 - 18 January 2015)
Blanche J. Chapman 90, of Alma Center passed way Jan. 18, 2015, in her home
surrounded by family. She was born Oct. 27, 1924, in Dorchester to Henry and
Marie Genrich.
Blanche was united in marriage to Walter L. Chapman, Sept. 11, 1946, in
Abbotsford. In addition to raising her six children, she enjoyed visiting with
her friends while waitressing and bartending at the local bar and café.
Blanche’s passion was bowling and playing cards with family and friends. She
also enjoyed cheering on the Packers, the Badgers and the Brewers. Blanche was
also a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Alma Center, Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church and the Ladies Aide. She held an office with the WIBC (Women’s
International Bowling Congress) for many years. Blanche lived to watch her
grandchildren play ball. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother.
She is survived by her sister Beverly (Norman) Fenske of Faribault, MN; two
daughters, Diane (Verlyn) Nelson of Las Vegas, NV, and Nancy (William) Rumpel of
Hudson, FL; three sons, Dennis of Alma Center, Dean (Isabel) of Monterrey, MX,
and Brian (Deb) of Jim Falls; grandchildren: Michael, Andrew, Amanda, Nicholas,
Alexis, Alec, Tabitha, Matthew and Allison; great-grandchildren: Samantha,
Catherine, Aspen and Andrew.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son (Jeffrey); son-in-law
(Verlyn); and sisters Dora and Doris.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at 10 a.m. at
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alma Center with the Father Timothy
Oudenhoven and Father David Rybicki officiating. Burial will follow in St.
Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alma Center. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 23,
2015, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Jensen-Modjeski Funeral home in Hixton. A
Rosary will be recited Friday at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will also be held Saturday
from 9 a.m. until the time of the serviced at the church. The family would like
to thank the Black River Memorial Hospital Hospice staff for their wonderful
care.
