Struensee, Robert (Bob) W. (20 July 1938 - 7 February 2015) With Flag
Robert (Bob) William Struensee, 76, of Neillsville died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015,
at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Bob was born July 20, 1938, in Neillsville, the son of Joseph William and
Mildred (Strebing) Struensee. He graduated from Neillsville High School in 1956
and joined the United States Navy, serving for five and one-half years. After
his discharge, he moved to Granton. Bob decided to be adventurous and struck a
deal with his brother, Dick, trading his two pigs for Dick’s wheelbarrow. Bob
set out to do concrete work. He leaned by trial and error establishing a
reputation, which led him to Neillsville and Struensee Concrete Construction.
Bob thrived in this business for many years. He sold the business to his nephew,
Mike, in 1995. Since then, Bob spent his free time visiting with all of his
friends at Snowballs/Glass House, where he is was as much of a fixture as the
bar itself.
He is survived by his brothers: Warren (Mary Jane) Struensee, Darrell Struensee
and Floyd (Carol) Struensee, all of Neillsville; sisters: Shirley Bryan of
Tullahoma, TN, and Carol (Jim) Kasun of Cedarburg; a stepbrother, Jerome
Schroeder of Florida; step sister, Geraldine Flegner of Sussex; and
sisters-in-law, Erdine Payne and Lois Struensee. Bob is further survived by many
nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Dale and Richard Struensee;
a sister, Alice Zelasko; nephews: Joey, Donald and Scott Struensee and Harry
Rosinski Jr.; step-brothers: Harvey, Donald, and James Schroeder; and
stepmother, Evelyn (Zuehlke) (Schroeder) Struensee.
A memorial service will be held for Bob at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at
the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Terry Marg will officiate.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. before the
service. Military honors will be accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council.
