Roehl, Clara (27 May 1887 - 10 August 1973)
A Clark County native, Mrs. Clara Roehl of Chili, died Friday, August 10, at St.
Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield at the age of 86. Funeral services were held
Monday afternoon from Christ Lutheran Church, Chili, with the Rev. Roland Roehrs
officiating. Interment was in the Windfall cemetery. The Gilbertson Funeral Home
at Granton was in charge of arrangements.
Born May 27, 1887, at Granton and educated there, the former Clara Ackerman was
married February 20, 1908, at Granton to Herman Roehl. He died June 10, 1943. A
member of Christ Lutheran Church, Mrs. Roehl lived in the Chili area most of her
lifetime.
She is survived by six sons, Glenn Roehl of Marshfield, Walter Roehl of Granton
and Alvin, Harvey, Carl and Leo Roehl, all of Chili; two daughters, Mrs. William
(Vera) Carstensen of Neillsville and Mrs. Gerald (Lila) Nelson of Spencer; and
by 26 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one
brother, Clarence Ackerman of California; and by four sisters: Mrs. Ruth Ketel,
Mrs. Lillie Eilers, Mrs. Nora Pischer and Mrs. Ella Turner, all of Portland,
Ore.
Pallbearers were: Lowell Roehl, Erline Roehl, Charles Schueller, Elroy Roehl,
Ted Steimke and Erland Greeler. ‘How Great Thou Art’ and ‘Asleep In Jesus’ were
sung by Mrs. Norman Faber and Mrs. Henry Grottke, Jr. Mrs. Harold Montag was the
organist.
