Schwarze, Clifford (30 March 1906 - 6 August 1973)
Clifford Schwarze, 67, of Wakefield, Mi., died August 6, in a convalescent home
in Wakefield. Mr. Schwarze was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schwarze. He was
born March 30, 1906, in Greenwood. He attended the West Eaton School. He served
in the Army overseas, received the Purple Heart, and received his discharge in
1945.
Then he was engaged in taking timber contracts in Northern Wisconsin and
Michigan, until he retired in 1962. He had been in poor health for the last
three and one-half years and had been hospitalized at Wood several times. He was
admitted to the Wakefield Convalescent home in January. Mr. Schwarze was never
married.
Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Ellen) Dux of Neillsville, Mrs.
Lawrence (Susa n) Williamson, Mrs. Hilda Bjorkman and mrs. James (Lorraine)
Overstreet, all of Racine and Mrs. Jennie Hendrickson of Spencer; a brother,
Calvin, of Wakefield, Mi.; and two step-sisters, Forella and Agnes Kardell of
Wakefield.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 9, at 1;30 p.m. at the Hill
Funeral Home in Greenwood. The Rev. David Logue, pastor of the Zion United
Church of Christ will officiate, with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Duane Anding, Mark Anding, Albert Dimeo, John Hendrickson, Arno
Miller and Edward Meinholdt. Gary Schultz sang, ‘Rock of Ages’ and ‘Beyond the
Sunset,’ accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Schultz.
Among relatives from a distance attending were his brother and sisters, Mr. and
Mrs. Lawrence Williamson, Mrs. Hilda Bjorkman, and Mrs. James Overstreet of
Racine; and Calvin Schwarze and Forella Kardell of Wakefield, Mi.
