The congregation of the Spencer United Methodist Church gathered at the new
Church building on Sunday morning for the Cornerstone laying service.
Taking part in the half hour service were the Pastor, Rev. R. James Hagen, who
gave the opening sentences, followed by a choir number, "Christ is Made the Sure
Foundation." The purpose of the gathering in invocation was given by the pastor.
Bible reference from the Old and New Testaments were read by Mr. Spencer D.
Graves and Mrs. Ben Burnett, respectively.
The hymn, "O Living Christ, Chief Cornerstone" was sang by the audience and
choir. The presentation and laying of the cornerstone was then followed by
responses by the pastor and the people with prayer in unison.
After the Benediction and closing prayer, the hymn, "Blessed by the Tie That
Binds." A fellowship followed inside the new building.
