Schoelzel, Donald R. "Shorty" (3 FEB 1962 – 15 FEB 2015)
Donald R. "Shorty" Schoelzel, age 53, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015
at his home surrounded by his family. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00
AM on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. The Rev. Mark
Neumann will officiate. Family and friends are welcome on Thursday, February 19,
2015 from 4-8 for a visitation and from 10:00 AM until the time of services on
Friday. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is entrusted with the
arrangements.
Shorty was born on February 3, 1962, the son of Darnell and Janice (Gaetz)
Schoelzel in Marshfield, WI. He attended Colby Schools and was a 1980 graduate
of Colby High School. He worked for various farms until his employment in 1986
for Kerry Ingredients in Owen, WI and worked there for 29 years until he became
ill. He was a member of the Teamsters Union for Kerry Ingredients. Shorty was
united in marriage to Rita Heindl on February 14, 2015.
Shorty enjoyed spending his time outdoors, but most of all he enjoyed spending
time with his grandkids. He was a man who liked to ride his snowmobile and
four-wheeler. Shorty was a member of the Ripp Riders snowmobile club. He also
enjoyed watching NASCAR on TV.
Shorty is survived by his wife; Rita, two children; Brooke (Ray) Krause of Owen,
and Britny Schoelzel of Eau Claire, two grandchildren; Trey Schoelzel and
Brynleigh Krause. He is further survived by his parents; Darnell and Janice
Schoelzel of Colby, a brother and a sister: Duane (Rhonda) Schoelzel of Marathon
and Julie Schoelzel of Neillsville; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dave Schoelzel.
