Montgomery, Charmain Ann (Marriage - 18 August 1973)

Wedding vows were exchanged Saturday, August 18, at Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant by Miss Charmain Ann Montgomery and Michael Kissling. The 2 p.m. ceremony was performed by the Rev. Richard Eggen. A reception was held later at the Neillsville American Legion Hall. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Irving Montgomery, Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kissling, Rt. 2 Granton.

For her marriage, the bride chose a gown of antique white satin styled with a lace cape collar, full sleeves with buttoned lace cuffs and a gathered skirt accentuated by a deep satin ruffle trimmed with lace. A satin and lace bonnet held her illusion veil. She carried an arrangement of spider mums, mums, pink roses, stephanotis and ivy as she was presented in marriage by her father.

The former Miss Montgomery chose her sister, Sandra Montgomery, as her honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Vicki Kissling, Granton, and Judith Weis, Marshfield. Dotted Swiss in shades of pink, blue and green, respectively, fashioned their A-line empire-waist gowns. Matching headpieces and bouquets of white daisies with carnations colored to match the dresses completed their ensembles.

Eugene Spiegel, Granton, acted as bestman. Groomsmen were Michael Melvin, Spencer, and Jeff Foster, Milwaukee. Charles Montgomery, brother of the bride, and Dennis Spiegel, friend of the groom, shared duties as ushers. Shirts worn by the groom’s attendants matched the hues of the gowns and contrasted with champagne jackets and brown trousers.

Cousins of the bride, Kevin and Kara Sersch, Rockford, Il., served as ringbearer and flower girl. Her yellow dotted Swiss dress was complimented by a matching headpiece.

‘The Lord’s Prayer’ and ‘O Perfect Love’ were sung by soloist Barb Watenpuhl.

The bride was honored at prenuptial showers given by Mrs. John Trunkel in Neillsville, by the bridesmaids at Granton and by Mrs. Larry Wolf of Marshfield.

Both graduates of Neillsville High School, the newlyweds will make their home on Rt. 2, Neillsville, following their return from a wedding trip to Hayward. The groom is employed as a program director of a Neillsville radio station.
