Neillsville News (18 February- 2015)
Twenty members and two guest speakers enjoyed the potluck dinner served Feb. 12
at the meeting held for the Granton/Chili senior citizens at the Granton
Community Hall. Amy Nigon, benefit specialist from the Aging Office, assisted
people who came for Homestead Credit help. She also alerted members on the cuts
Gov. Walker wants to make in his budget for SeniorCare, BadgerCare and for
FamilyCare. The cuts will affect paying for needed drugs. Following her
presentation, Dulcie F. Lilly AmeriCorps representative from Clark County
Emergency Management, spoke about winter weather emergencies and winter driving
helps, and gave out Vial of Life packages to update our original medications.
The business meeting followed. The January meeting was cancelled due to the snow
and cold weather, so birthdays for January were also included in the February
birthday song. Carol Ayers burnished the ice cream for her birthday.
It was sadly reported one of the group’s members, Milly Faber, died Monday Feb.
9, at the home of her daughter, Bonnie Faber, in Rice Lake where Milly had been
staying for the past few months. Milly, with her many musical abilities, and who
beautifully decorated the tables each month with her vast assortment of flowers
and things, will be missed by all. A memorial service is scheduled to be held
May 2 at the living Hope Church in Neillsville. A Memorial will be given to the
Granton Library in Milly’s honor. The March meeting will be held Thursday, March
12. Bring a gift for playing Bingo. Visitors are welcomed.
