Carl. Alfred (10 February 1890 - 22 August 1973)
Funeral services were held Friday from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church
for Alfred Carl of Memorial Home, a Neillsville area native who died August 22,
at the age of 83. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated and burial was made in
the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
Born on February 10, 1890, in the Neillsville area to Herman and Martha (Martin)
Carl, Mr. Carl was educated in area schools. He did farm work locally and also
worked in the Minnesota harvest fields as a young man. He returned to
Neillsville and was married May 16, 1917, to the former Clara Weiting, who
preceded him in death in 1945.
The couple farmed in the Town of Pine Valley until 1936 when they moved to
Neillsville. Mr. Carl was employed by the Clark County Highway Department until
his retirement. A member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, he had
resided at Memorial Home the past few years because of failing health.
Surviving are three children, Victor Carl of Milwaukee, Mrs. Herbert (Nelda)
Voss of Rt. 2 Loyal, and Arnold Carl of Neillsville; a sister, Mrs. Walter
(Elizabeth) Borde of Albion; four brothers, Arthur Carl of Neillsville, William
Carl of Medical Lake, Wa, Harry Carl of Neillsville and Ernest Carl of Nekoosa;
and ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Harlin, Robert, DuWayne, Herman and Donald Carl and Wilmer
Lueck. Mrs. Harold Mayer sang ‘Rock of Ages’ and ‘The Lord Is My Shepherd.’ The
accompanist was Victor Lehmann.

Point Park, Mi.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Borde, Albion; Mr. and Mrs. Harlin Carl and
family, Madison;
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Carl and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Carl, Nekoosa; Mr. and Mrs.
DuWayne Carl, Neenah; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Swan, Edgerton; Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Carl, Port Edwards; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Carl, Patricia Carl, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis
Sowle, Miss Selma Voss and Mrs. Cynthia Neider, Milwaukee; Mrs. Norma Marg,
