Humbird (30 August 1973)
Mrs. Florence Garbush of Colby was a visitor in the home of Mrs. Millie Trachsel,
Friday evening, making plans for the fall meeting of the Clark County Historical
Society. She also, called at the W. F. Hein home.
Brian and Gregg Trachsel of Rochester, Mn, have been spending a few days with
their grandmother, Mrs. Millie Trachsel.
Mrs. Morris Emerson of Alma Center visited Friday afternoon at the Arnold Matti
home.
The Fred Barnowskis of Wausau are spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Ted Polege.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Theiler and children of Cataract visited Sunday at the Polege
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Meyer of Silver Bay, Mn, and Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Meyers of
Austin, Mn, were camping in the Hixton area and also visited a few days at the
Lyle Newell home last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe drove to Willard Sunday to attend the Harvest dinner
served by the ladies of the Willard Catholic Church, then to Neillsville to see
his sister, Mrs. Mary Iffland, and others in Memorial Home.
Mrs. Helene Nelson and Mrs. Hilda Schneider of Eau Claire spent Sunday at the
Newton home.
Dale Austin and son, Dan, spent a few days last week at the home of Mrs. Laura
Dignin.
Mrs. Edith Smith and Mrs. Kate Dignin left for Chicago Friday, Mrs. Smith to
visit her son Vernon, for several days. Mrs. Dignin will spend a few days at the
Smith home, and with her son, Mike, before going to Hobart and Gary, Ind., to
visit her daughters and other relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Tichy of Mundelein, Il, and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Risalock of Eau
Claire visited Saturday at the Newton home.
Kenneth Burnett of Hixton enjoyed a dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Perle
Pickett Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Hibbard Krumholz, who purchased the Mary Iffland home, are doing
some remodeling and have painted the exterior of the house. The Nelson boys,
have extended the front porch on their home and have insulated it.
Mrs. Fay Taylor and granddaughter of Mosinee are spending a few days with Mrs.
Anita Markham.
Mr and Mrs. Perle Pickett spent Sunday evening at the Orvis Burnett home in
Hixton.
Mr. and Mrs. John Klickner of Stevens Point visited Sunday at the home of her
mother, Mrs. Freida Zerbel.
Henry Wampole and son, Brice, showed slides of Australia Friday night at St.
John’s church.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Carlson and family of Stillwater, Mn, spent from Thursday
until Saturday with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Kirby.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Schoengarth and family of Neillsville visited Sunday and were
supper guests of the Levi Fitzmaurices.
Mr. and Mrs. Dick Trachsel, Gregg and Brian, of Rochester, Mn, and Mr. and Mrs.
Archie Kirby, had birthday cake and ice cream at the home of Mrs. Millie
Trachsel Friday.
Mrs. Leo Janke and son, Harry, Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot and Mrs. Mel Walker
returned Saturday night from their trip to Ca, where they visited the former
Hazel Woodford.
Mrs. Robert Phillips and children and Mr. and Mrs. John Clark and family of
Wisconsin Rapids spent Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Phillips.
Walter Jenswold attended the Silver wedding anniversary observance of Mr. and
Mrs. Abel Siverhus of Beloit. He officiated at the couple’s wedding while he was
a Westby. In Beloit, Mr. Jenswold stayed at the home of his cousin and her
husband, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sorenson. Mr. Sorenson is vice president of a brake
and clutch company. He also visited a former Sunday school teacher, the Judd
Cowan family, of Janesville.
