Mews, Richard (25 MAR 1931 – 19 AUG 1967)
Richard Mews, 36, route 2, Colby, died in a collision of two tractors Saturday
afternoon on town road one, one and one-half miles northeast of Loyal.
The accident happened when the two men were returning from a tractor pulling
contest at Loyal Sunday. Wheels of the two vehicles bumped together and Mews
tractor tipped over.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's
Catholic Church, with Father John Olson officiating. Burial was made in the
parish cemetery. A general rosary service was conducted Tuesday evening.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Lulloff Funeral Home of Colby.
Richard Mews was born March 25, 1931 at Auburndale. His marriage to Louis
Schreiner took place Jan. 13, 1951 at Stratford. The couple lived first at Wis.
Rapids, where he was employed at the paper mill, and then at Milwaukee, where eh
worked for Hertzburg Tool and Die Co. For the past 10 years the couple lived in
the town of Colby (Clark Wo., Wis.), where they operated a farm.
Mr. Mews had served with the Wisconsin National Guard.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Lance, 12, Renee, 11, Kevin,
10, and Stuart, 4, all at home; his father, Ernest Mews of Orlando, Fla., and a
sister, Mrs. Eugene (Virginia) Steltenpohl, Pittsville.
