Zak, Darlene Kay (16 February 1954 - 18 February 2015)

Darlene Zak, 61, of Marshfield, formerly of Neillsville, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Darlene Kay (Fisher) Zak was born Feb. 16, 1954, in Black River Falls, the daughter of Forrest and Prixeda (Janicki) Fisher. She graduated from Neillsville High School in 1972, was married to James Zak, and they lived in Dorchester. They later divorced and Darlene moved back to Neillsville, where she held several jobs, including at the Neillsville Movie Theatre, Cenex, Baltus, Autostop, Family Dollar, Figi’s and, for several years, as a CAN at the Memorial Nursing Home. Darlene moved to Marshfield in January of 2010 and worked at Walmart until retiring do to her disability.

Darlene was a great cook, and she enjoyed playing bingo at the casino. She liked watching birds, especially cardinals, and she enjoyed taking care of plants and reading.

She is survived by four children, Tanya Zak of St. Paul, MN, Heather Zak of Loyal, Misty (Brandon) Erickson of Marshfield and Kyle Zak of Marshfield; three grandchildren, Trynatee Erickson, Milania Erickson and Camden Zak; six siblings: Patricia (Monroe) Johnson of Vidor, TX, Forrest Fisher and Darrell Fisher of Missouri, Gary (Sharon) Fisher of Freeport, IL, her twin brother, Robert (Jone) Fisher of Dorchester, and Debbie Fisher of Bulls Gap, TN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Judy Porter and Lillian Covert; and an infant brother, Richard Fisher.

A Memorial service for Darlene will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, at the Gesche Funeral Home.
