Peterson, Lorraine Jeanette (Bowen) (24 OCT 1915 - 3 JAN 2012)
Lorraine Jeanette Peterson, 96, of Rib Lake, formerly of Westboro, died Tuesday,
Jan. 3, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Rib Lake.
She was born Oct. 24, 1915, in Longwood; the daughter of Ed and Dora (McCarty)
Bowen.
She attended Longwood Grade School and was a 1933 graduate of Greenwood High
School.
She married Lester E. Peterson on Oct. 1, 1938, at the parsonage of First
Lutheran Church in Ogema.
The couple made their home in Westboro, where she resided until 2009 when she
moved to Rib Lake.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Westboro, First Lutheran Ladies Aid,
and enjoyed dancing, reading, watching the Brewers and spending time with her
family.
She is survived by two sons, Edward (Joyce) of Westboro and Rich of Ogema; six
daughters, Doredda (Leroy) Olson of Chelsea, Jean Anderson of Jasper, AL, Joan
(Roy) Plemmons of Cumming, GA, and Myrtha (Guy) Justice, Mary (Greg) Wagenknecht,
and Candy (Dan) Zutavern, all of Westboro; 23 grandchildren; 44
great-grandchildren; six great-great- grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and
other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, on March 20, 2003; one
daughter, Carol Peterson; one son, Tom; one granddaughter, April Peterson; two
brothers, Richard and Howard; one sister, Fern (Vern) Schultz; and one great-
grandson, Mathew Olson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 7, at First Lutheran Church in
Westboro, with Rev. Bob Giese officiating.
Interment was in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Westboro.
Pallbearers were Jay and Justin Peterson, Mark and John Olson, Todd Plemmons,
Jake and Carl Zutavern and Jenny Voda.
Memorial contributions in honor of Lorraine may be given to First Lutheran
Church, Westboro.
Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home, Rib Lake, assisted the family with arrangements.
