Peterson, Marian C. (Kestler) (6 JUL 1925 - 9 APR 2013)
Marian C. Peterson, age 87, a Township of Chelsea resident, passed away Tuesday,
April 9 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital where she had been a patient for the past
four days.
Marian was born on July 6, 1925 in Whittlesey, to Frank Henry Kestler, Sr. and
Clara Ann Viergutz. She attended Winding Brook Elementary School, Town of
Chelsea, and later Westboro High School.
On October 1, 1942 in Chelsea, she was married to Alvin “Bud” A. Peterson and he
preceded her in death April 12, 2004.
After her marriage, she did woods work, farmed in the Town of Chelsea, worked at
A & M Mink Ranch of Chelsea, and for 17 years, worked at Tombstone Pizza Corp in
Medford until retirement. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, fishing,
playing cards, and spending time with her family.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford; a past member of
Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Chelsea; and the past
President of the Chelsea Ladies Sodality.
She is survived by her children: Lawrence “Larry” (Sue Noland) Peterson of
Medford, Linda (Paul) Bogenschneider of Hendersonville, TN, Lyle (Linda)
Peterson of Medford, Luanne (Steven) Fliehs of Medford; sisters-in-law: Jenny
“Elaine” Mayer of Medford, Dorothy Hoveland and Delores “Fenno” (Neil) Reimann
both of Westboro; brother-in-law: James (Mary Ann) Peterson of Medford; by 12
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding Marian in death are her parents; her brother, Frank Kestler, Jr.; and
her sister, Florence Jarchow.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 14, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church
in Medford. Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiated.
Internment took place in Mount Olive Cemetery in Westboro.
Pallbearers were: Honorary; Richard Bentzler, James Tlusty, Daniel
Bogenschneider; Active; Grandsons: Jason Higgins, Eric Fliehs, Miles, Jared,
Luke, Ethan and James Peterson.
