Blaskowski, John J. (? - 5 September 1973)
The body of John J. Blaskowski, Jr., 35-year-old father of five, was found
Wednesday near his crashed automobile, six miles southeast of Neillsville on
Highway 73. He apparently was the victim of a one-car accident. He was the sixth
to die on Clark County highways this year.
Blaskowski’s body was found some distance from his car, which had overturned
several times after leaving the pavement on Highway 73. He was crushed badly,
apparently having been thrown from the vehicle which then rolled over him.
The accident was reported to the county police radio headquarters at 1:10 a.m.
by Dale D. Schultz, a county traffic officer who was off duty at the time.
Schultz said he saw lights burning in the field as he drove along Highway 73,
and stopped to investigate. He swept the area several times with a flashlight
before he came upon Blaskowski’s body.
It was not knows how long before Schultz came along that the accident had
happened; but it was believed that there was a considerable lapse of time
between the accident and its discovery.
Blaskowski was believed returning to his home at 200 Oak Street from work. He
was reportedly engaged in construction work.
