Hogue, Clarence E. (Billy) (10 August 1902 - 2 September 1973)
A former teacher and long-time postal department employee, Clarence E. (Billy)
Hogue, 71, of Merrillan, died Sunday in Neillsville following a brief illness.
Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday at 2:15 p.m. from the Georgas
Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Carey officiating. Interment was to be made in
the Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Hogue, the son of William and Ingbor (Peterson) Hogue, was born August 10,
1902, at Greenwood and was educated in area schools, graduating from Greenwood
High School. He taught school in that area for four years and then worked for
the postal department on the railroad for the 42 years preceding his retirement.
His marriage to the former Helen Ehlers took place November 23, 1927, in
Greenwood. The Hogues lived in Chicago, Il., and in Milwaukee before moving to
Merrillan, where they lived for 35 years.
Surviving are his wife and a brother, Bernard Hogue of Walnut Creek, Ca.
