Pankau, Barbara (Marriage - 8 September 1973)

Miss Barbara Pankau and Bruce Gurske were united in Marriage Saturday, September 8, at Grace Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Rev. Koepsel of Oshkosh performed the 5 p.m. double-ring ceremony.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pankau of Oshkosh who were married in the same church September 10, 1949. The former Mis Pankau is the granddaughter of Mrs. Marie Keller of Neillsville. The groom is the son of Mrs. John Scalione and Robert Gurske of Chicago, Il.

A Juliet-style gown of peau de soi embellished with seed pearls and fashioned with a train was chosen by the bride. For a jewelry accent, she wore a cross once owned by her great-great-grandmother. The more than 100-year-old cross was loaned for the occasion by her aunt and godmother, Mrs. Ruth Benduhn. Her full-length veil was caught by a seed pearl trimmed crown. An arrangement of white blossoms with baby’s breath formed the bridal bouquet.

A Stout State University classmate of the bridal couple sang ‘The Lord’s Prayer.’

The Plankington Hotel was the setting for a reception and supper for 260 guests.

Following a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin the newlyweds will live in Chicago where the groom is employed as a policeman.

Guests at the wedding came from Chicago, Milwaukee, Marshfield, Menomonie, Monroe, Oshkosh, Berlin and Neillsville.
