Johnson, Virginia Rose (23 SEP 1967)
Donald Zawacki of Colorado Spring, Colo., son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Zawacki of
Abbotsford, took Miss Virginia Rose Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vern S.
Johnson of Alexandria, Minn., as his bride in a ceremony performed at St. Mary's
Catholic Church, Alexandria, Minn., Saturday, Sept. 23, 1967. Stylized bouquets
of white mums and gladioli adorned the altars for the 11 o'clock nuptial mass
and exchange of marriage vows, at which the Rev. Theo. Wroble officiated.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attired in a Chantilly
lace trimmed floor length dress designed with scoop neckline, short sleeves,
empire waist with wind swept skirt and chapel train. A cap with three satin rose
buds held her fingertip veil. She carried a princess style bouquet of white
orchids and stephanotis with ivy.
Attending the bride were Miss Pat Johnson of Alexandria, as maid of honor, Miss
Gloria Zawacki of Abbotsford, Miss Mary Kay Johnson and Mrs. Lee Johnson, both
of Alexandria, as bridesmaids. They wore identically styled empire floor length
gowns with a train made of royal blue linen fabric. They wore a matching linen
bow in their hair and carried princess bouquets of whit Fuji mums and ivy.
Miss Bridget Johnson, the flower girl, wore a white dress and carried a bouquet
of stephanotis and carnations.
Dennis Meyer of St. Paul served as best man. Jerry Coursalle of Minneapolis,
Bruce Nelson and Lee Johnson, both of Alexandria, Minn., completed the wedding
party.
Jerry and Allen Chermak of Alexandria seated the guests at the church.
Hanging baskets of gladioli decorated the Alexandria Country Club, where the
wedding reception was held. White pompons and mums were used in the centerpiece
of the long table which was decorated with smilax.
The bride is a 1962 graduate of Priory High School, Bismarck, N.D., and was
employed at Control Data at Roseville, Minn.
The groom, a 1957 graduate of the Abbotsford High School, is a senior customer
engineering specialist for Control Data Corp, Roseville, Minn.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Zawacki will make their home at 526 E. Hugo St., Colorado
Springs, Colo.
