Howard, Glen (? – 19 JUL 1918)
George and Len Howard received word Thursday from their brother, John, at St.
Paul, that their nephew, Glen Howard, had been killed in action in France on
July 19th. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Howard, received a cablegram to that
effect. Glen is the first Neillsville boy to meet death on the battlefields of
France. He was born east of Neillsville and moved with his parents to this city,
attending the public schools here. He was a member of the old Co. A in this city
and after his term of enlistment had expired, re-enlisted and went to Camp
McArthur for training, going to France with the boys when they went over. Glen
was a companionable young man, capable and industrious and his death cast a pall
of sorrow over the many friends he had in this city. He is survived by his
parents, one brother, and one sister.
