Petke, Wendy Raye (Marriage - 8 September 1973)
Miss Wendy Raye Petke and Malen Anthony Juzwiak were married Satruday, September
8, in a 2 p.m. ceremony performed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, by the
Rev. Douglas Groenewold. A reception was held at the Quonset Hall in Thorp.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Petke, Rt. 1, Withee, and Mr. and
Mrs. Malen Juzwiak, Rt. 2 Thorp.
Antique lace and covered buttons trimmed the wide, V-shaped yoke and elongated
cuffs of the long-sleeved, high-neckline bridal gown. A slightly-flared skirt,
also trimmed in lace, swept into a flowing train. The bride carried an
arrangement of orange carnations with white roses and ivy as she was presented
in marriage by her father.
Miss Sue Gajda, Lublin, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Peggy Looker of
Chicago, Gloria Petke of Withee, Dorothy Jankee of Owen Marjorie Peterson of
Thorp and Lora Gilbertson of Minneapolis, Mn. Their V-neck, puff-sleeved gowns
in sheer, apricot to rust prints over deep apricot lining were fashioned with
fitted bodices and A-line skirts. Orange and white carnations formed their
bouquets.
Danny Peleschak served as bestman. Groomsmen were Ken Sliwka, Bob Oryszczyn and
Denny Wincek of Thorp and Frank Juzwiak, Jr., and Allen Panek of Chicago. Acting
as ushers were Kevin Peterson, Withee, and Kenny Juzwiak, Chicago.
Mrs. Herman Rabska was the accompanist for soloist Mrs. Louise Luedke.
The new Mrs. Juzwiak graduated from Owen-Withee High School in 1972. Her
husband, a 1968 Thorp High School graduate, also attended the Eau Claire
Technical Institute for a year and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for
two years. He is employed as parts manager for a Thorp firm.
The couple will live on Rt. 2 Thorp, following a wedding trip to South Dakota.
