Neillsville Locals (20 September 1973)
William Schroeder of Olympia, Wa., and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Schroeder of Madison
visited here with their sister, Mrs. Marie Keller, and with other relatives and
friends last week. Sunday callers of Mrs. Keller were her nephews and their
wives, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schroeder of Minnesota and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick
Schroeder of Illinois.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Becker, Coronado, Da., visited last Wednesday and Thursday
in Neillsville. The Beckers are former residents of Neillsville, where he was a
band instructor for many years and she was a kindergarten teacher. Mr. Becker
has no retired as principal of Coronado Junior High School and is working with
his avocado orchard. Presently they are on a 14-week tour of the continental
United States and are enroute home via Idaho, Washington and Oregon after
visiting in the east. The Beckers were overnight guests at the John Perkins
home.
Mr. and Mrs. William Rizner have sold their farm in the Town of Washburn and
have moved into their new home east of Neillsville.
Mrs. Kathleen Gall of Tacoma, Wa., a former Neillsville resident, is visiting in
this area.
Weekend visitors at the Max Feuerstein home were their granddaughter and her
family, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Robinson and baby of Oshkosh.
Mr. and Mrs. Thad Zajac visited Sunday at Marion with his mother, Mrs. John
Zajac.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson have moved into the former Werner Jenni home, which
they purchased recently.
Mrs, E, G, Burtness of Roscoe, Il., the wife of the Rev. E. G. Burtness, former
pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church, suffered a stroke approximately two weeks ago
and is confined to Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford, Il.
Mr. and Mrs. John Swenson returned home last Thursday from a nine-day auto trip
which took them as far west as Montana. The Swensons went by way of Duluth and
Superior and took an excursion boat trip on Lake Superior. In Antelope, Mt.,
they visited with is sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hoven, and
in Tolona, N.D., with other of his relatives. Enroute home they visited with his
sister, Mrs. Henry Carlson in Red, Wing Mn.
Sunday evening visitors at the Charles Maegdefessel home were Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Ratsch of Wilmette, Il., who have been visiting her sister, Mrs. Herman Lenzkow.
