Weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kuester were Edward Kutzler of
Buhl, Mn, and Joe Kutzler of Superior. Rick Kuester of Belle Plain, Ia., is
spending a week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kuester.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Kuester accompanied by their grandchildren, Patrice and
Jeffrey Van Keuren of Wooster, Oh, went to Rochester, Mn, Saturday to spend the
weekend with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Humke.
Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Kuester, Rick Kuester and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kuester
attended the birthday celebration of the latter couple’s daughter, Mrs. Jay
LaBonte at her home in Chippewa Falls Thursday evening.
Robert Caliebe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Caliebe of Greenwood arrived Tuesday to
spend three days with his parents and other relatives before reporting back
Friday September 14 to New Port, R. I., where he will be attached to a staff.
Robert returned to the United States September 7 after spending the past three
months on board the U. S. Destroyer ‘Holder’, where they carried out operations
with the Sixth Fleet Air Craft Carrier and Destroyer. During those months they
had the opportunity to visit in Spain and several ports, Monaco, Barcelona,
Sicily, and Naples, Italy. Many during their stay toured Rome and the center, of
the French Riviera Golfjoun, near Monaco.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce D. Miller and son, Chad, returned Tuesday to Monticello,
Ind., after visiting both their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Heck and Mr. and
Mrs. Vern Gardner.
Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Liebzeit were Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Liebzeit were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lemmer and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Lemmer of
Wausau.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Blaasch have returned from a two week trip to the west
coast.
The Senior Citizens of Greenwood meeting will be held in the Clark Electric
auditorium Thursday, September 20 at 7 p.m. Mrs. Anna Susa, Mrs. John Susa, and
Mrs. Effie Swieso will be hostesses. Harry Liebzeit will show nature study
pictures of Wisconsin taken by him.
The Birthday Club was entertained Monday evening by Mrs. Carl Stabnow with a
6:30 dinner at the café followed by Bridge at the Stabnow home. Prizes were
awarded to Mrs. Hazel Helwig, Mrs. Glen Drew, Mrs. Don Warner and Mrs. James
McConnell.
The Canasta Club had a dinner meeting at the home of Mrs. Henry Vollrath Friday
evening, September 14.
The West Side Homemakers met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Emil Noah.
Quilt block patterns were exchanged. It was decided for member to bake cookies
for the ‘blood bank’. Lunch was served by the hostess.
Mrs. Leona Syth entertained members of the Intersee club Wednesday evening at
her home at the first fall meeting.
Mrs. Katherine Lindner is spending some time on a trip to Canada and with her
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Neste at Spokane, Wa.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vollrath and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Keller spent Tuesday at
Rosholt. Mrs. Anna Rossman returned here with them after spending a week at the
Lions Camp at Rosholt.
Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Noah and family returned to Hawthorne, Ca, after visiting
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Noah and other relatives.
Mr. Harry Plunkett spent a week at the Plunkett home in Tomah. Weekend guests a
t the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Plunkett were their children, George Plunkett
and daughters of Dellwood; and Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Plunkett of La Crosse.
Mrs. Arvin Liebzeit went to La Crosse Tuesday to visit their daughter and
granddaughter, Coreen Liebzeit, who attends the university there.
Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Kuester were Tuesday supper guests at the home of their
nephew, Leon Kuester and family.
Word received here by Einar Jackson, Lawrence Jackson and Mrs. Don Warner
informing them, that their brother, Harold Jackson of La Crescent, Mn, has
suffered a heart attack on Friday, September 7 and is hospitalized at the St.
Francis Hospital at La Crosse. He is a former Greenwood resident.
The Ladies Aid Society of Trinity Lutheran Church will meet Thursday, September
20 at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Fred Limprecht.
Mrs. Henry Keiner returned Tuesday after spending several days with relatives in
Mosinee, Spencer and Athens. On Saturday she attended the wedding of her nephew,
Alan Brod and Theresa Marie Austin at Wausau. She also attended the Obernberger
family reunion at Athens on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brehm of Racine and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Weigel of Stratford
were Tuesday visitors at the home of the ladies sister, Mrs. Henry Keiner.
Patrice and Jeffrey Van Keuren of Wooster, Oh, are spending a week with their
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stewart.
