Zulke, Ethel Edith Marie (Kraut) (11 MAR 1923 - 26 FEB 2015)
Ethel Edith Marie Zulke, age 97 years, of Hillsboro, passed away with her
daughter by her side on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Milestone Senior Living in
Hillsboro.
She was born on December 11, 1917, to Frank and Ida (Kind) Kraut in Curtiss.
Ethel graduated from Abbotsford High School, followed by beauty school. She
worked at her sister’s salon in Dorchester for a few years until she later
opened her own beauty shop in Madison, which she operated for several years.
Ethel later worked in housekeeping with Meriter Hospital in Madison until her
retirement at the age of 82. She has lived in Hillsboro for the past 13 years.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, was an avid bowler, and a big
fan of Wisconsin sports teams: Packers, Brewers and Badgers. In her earlier
years she was a Brownie Troop leader, Sunday school teacher and an excellent
seamstress.
Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl (Digger) Allikas of Hillsboro;
son-in-law, Richard Bentley of Madison; five grandchildren, Todd (Patrice)
Bentley of Brooklyn, Tricia (John) Keach of Madison, Jason (Valerie) Bentley of
Madison, Stephanie (Dan) Pasker of Mount Horeb and Jennifer (Dustin) Byl of
Soldiers Grove; and six great-grandchildren, Mason, Ava, Jordyn, Bentley, Dawson
and Julian.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Pamela Bentley; two
brothers, Franklin and Donald Kraut; two sisters, Pearl Vorland and Marie
Cattanach; and former husband, Willard Zulke.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at noon at the
Hillsboro Wesleyan Church, 1020 High Avenue, Hillsboro, 54634, with Rev. Roger
Miller officiating. Burial will take place at the Pine Hill Cemetery at Curtiss.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday for a time of visitation from 10 a.m.
to 12 p.m.
