Nagel, Fred (4 MAR 1924 – 16 OCT 1967)
Fred Nagel, 43, Abbotsford, suffered a fatal heart attack about 8:30 Monday
morning.
Mr. Nagel, a mason, was at work on scaffolding at the Athens High School, and
fell about nine feet. The autopsy disclosed that he suffered the heart attack
before falling.
The body lay in state at the Gilles and Son Funeral Home, Athens, Tuesday
afternoon and evening and then was taken to Tremont, Minn., where funeral
services were conducted Thursday at 2 o'clock at the First Lutheran Church.
Military rites were conducted at the parish cemetery, where the interment was
made. Mr. Nagel was a veteran of World War II.
Fred Nagel was born March 4, 1924, at Ocheydan, Ia., and was educated there. His
marriage to Helen Blomquist took place June 4, 1949, at St. James, Minn.
Mr. Nagel was engaged in general construction and was a foreman in building
churches in Iowa and Minnesota. Last Jan. 1, Mr. and Mrs. Nagel and their
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Thomp, purchased the Harry Bunger
farm near Milan and operated it together.
Mr. Nagel also continued with his mason work.
Surviving him are his wife and son, Galen John, a junior at the Abbotsford High
School, and daughter, Mrs. Gary (Randalyn) Thompson, route 2, Athens, and three
grandchildren.
He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Selma Nagel, Ocheydan, Ia; three brothers,
Victor Nagel, Tuckerman, Ark., Arthur Nagel, Ceylon, Minn., and Rabel Nagel,
Ocheydan, Ia., and one sister, Mrs. Ronald (Betty) Toy, Summit, S.D.
