Kouba, Helen Elizabeth (31 October 1928 - 5 March 2015)

Helen Elizabeth Kouba, 86, of Thorp, WI died March 5, 2015. Helen passed away peacefully at the Clairemont Nursing and Rehab Center in Eau Claire.

She was born on October 31, 1928, to Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Cavanagh. She was the youngest of five children. Her siblings were Dorothy,, Jeanne, Edmund, and John. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in NJ, where she met the love of her life, Richard. Richard and Helen were married on January 24, 1948. While spending their early marriage traveling worldwide with Singer Corporation, having a family was always a priority. They adopted a baby boy, named Richard. It wasn’t until living in Mexico years later that they had their only daughter, Mary Ellen. Helen was a loving mother and wife.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Hartz; grandchildren: Andrew (Tiffany), Adam (Natalie), Rachel (Jon) and Rebecca; great grandchildren: Allyson (Rachel) and Clara (Andy).

Her husband, Richard, her son, Richard, and her granddaughter Stephanie preceded her in death.

She had many passions throughout her life. Her love for people and being a caregiver was the one that was always true and dear to her heart. She loved spending time with family and enjoying nature; fishing was her favorite pastime. If there was a Bingo or card game, you can bet she would be there; win or lose, the smile on her face said it all! She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Burial will be held Friday, March 13, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hazel Ridge Cemetery in Elkhorn, WI. A Memorial luncheon to honor Helen will take place at Morgan Plaza, 113 East Lawrence St. Thorp, WI on Sunday, March 15th at 1 p.m.

Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.cremationsociety-wi.com.
