Volz, Sally Ann (Marriage - 22 September1973)

Wedding vows were exchanged Saturday, September 22, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church by Miss Sally Ann Volz and Michael R. Smith. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony. A reception was held at the American Legion Hall. The bride, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Volz of Neillsville, was presented in marriage by her father. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Smith of rural Neillsville.

An empire-waist bridal gown of white peau de soie trimmed with Alencon lace and styled with bishop sleeves was chosen by the former Miss Volz. A cathedral-length mantilla veil and cascade bouquet of orange rosebuds and white spider mums completed her ensemble.

Miss Sherry Kurtz, Viroqua, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Marilyn Watenpuhl, Miss Rolaine Sebesta and Miss Sandra Volz, the bride’s sister. They carried baskets of yellow daisies and gold mums to compliment their orange and white checked gingham knit gowns fashioned with orange chiffon sleeves.

The groom was attended by Craig Graves of Altoona as bestman and by Don Marty, Tony (Clifford) Smith of Spencer and Robert Ellingson of Black River Falls as groomsmen. Ushering duties were shared by David Marty and James Kufahl, Cambridge. Victor Lehmann was the organist.

Both, Neillsville High School graduates, the bride and groom are employed locally. After October 1, they will live on Rt. 1 Neillsville.
