Those from this area who attended the funeral of M/Sgt. James Picket at Spencer
Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Krarup, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Krarup, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Warns, Mrs. Walter Blunck and Mrs. Gay Christophersen.
On Monday Mr. Robert Meyer, Antigo, visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. John
Jalling enroute to La Crosse.
A2/c John Andersen of Duluth spent the weekend at the home of his grandmother,
Mrs. Alex Sorenson and other friends and relatives. He is on a 30 day leave
before being sent to France for a year and a half. Airman Andersen is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Einar Andersen, Mauston.
Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Christensen over the weekend were
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Christensen and son, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Helberg
and son of Barron, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Engelbretsen, Eau Claire.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Wollitz and son of Minneapolis arrived Friday to spend the
weekend at the home of her parents and other relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Petersen and family of Circle Pines, Minn. were visitors at
the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Andreasen and other relatives over
the weekend.
Leon Bruchert attended a bankers meeting at Wausau Wednesday.
Rev. and Mrs. LeRoy Urman and family returned home Wednesday from Quincy, Ill,
where they were called by the illness and death of her father.
Jerry Wenzel spent the weekend in Watseka, Ill. visiting friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Smith of Fond du Lac spent the weekend at the home of her
sister and brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Christensen and Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Nielsen, and with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold
Rasmussen.
Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nielsen over the weekend were their
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Egan and daughters of Chicago. Mrs.
Egan was the former Dorothy Nielsen.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Engel transcated business in Eau Claire Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Roger Engel of Madison were weekend visitors at the home of his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Engel.
Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Cizek entertained their children to a farewll family dinner
Thursday evening. Having sold their home to Mr. and Mrs. Milton Patrick, who
will take possession June 1. Those present for the occasion were Rev. and Mrs.
Clarence Cizek, Chippewa, and Mrs. Yelke, Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cizek and
family, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Cizek, Colorado Springs; Mr. and Mrs. Rex
Greer and family, Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Don Parsons and family of Arlington Heights,
and Mrs. June Kangable and daughter, Jill, St. Louis.
Mrs. Winnie Christorf of Chippewa Falls spent Saturday and Sunday at the home of
her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fredricks.
Miss Carol Baake, Minneapolis, visited the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Uno
Baake, over the weekend.
The Phillips 66 bowling team bowled at Abbotsford Saturday evening.
Miss Cindy Frome of Unity visited the home of her aunt and uncle, Mr. Mrs.
Thorwald Frost, over the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Buford Nickolsen have purchased the home of Mr. and Mrs. James
Alert, a mile southwest of the village, and will amove his family there in the
near future.
Mr. and Mrs. C.O. Albert translated business in Marshfield Friday evening.
