Military rites were held for M/Sgt. James Pickett, 51, at Spencer Saturday
afternoon, at the Methodist Church. Sgt. Pickett was a brother to Mrs. Harold
Krarup, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), and the husband of the former Helga Krarup,
formerly of Owen.
He died of a heart attack at Travis Air Force Base in California. He had been in
the military service since 1940, when he enlisted in the army, working himself
up to the rank of Warrant Officer. After his retirement upon completion of 20
years of service, he later re-enlisted in the air force. He has served in
Hawaii, Japan and Turkey.
His marriage to Helga Krarup, who survives, took place Jan. 30, 1945 in Chicago.
Other survivors are a son, Thomas, at home; his mother, Mrs. Frank Pickett,
Spencer; and two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth Hilden, Minneapolis, and Mrs. Harold
Krarup, Owen.
