Hokanson, John “Phil” P. (15 MAR 1931 - 28 MAR 2015)
John P. Hokanson died Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Aspirus Hospital, Wausau.
Services will be announced at a later date. Cremainal interment will take place
at Hillside Cemetery, Ogema.
He was born March 15, 1931 in Ogema, the son of Fred and Hulda E. (Larson)
Hokanson.
Phil graduated from Mount Scenario College in Ladysmith. He also attended Taylor
County Teacher's College and Stevens Point State College.
After his education, Phil began teaching in 1951 in Kennan, WI and at other
Northern WI schools. He then taught in Prentice school district from 1956 until
his retirement.
Phil worked summers and weekends at the Medford Hospital. He enjoyed raising
different species of birds and small animals.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Ogema.
He is survived by a sister, Barbara (Lloyd) La Mere of Brown Deer. Phil is
further survived by five nieces and one nephew.
He is predeceased by his parents and sisters Edythe Nelson & Genevieve Luedke.
