Humbird (4 October 1973)
Keith Briggs came home from the hospital Thursday. He had been confined with an
arm fracture.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nibbe of Hobart, Ind., and her mother, Mrs. Kate Dignin,
were Neillsville shoppers Wednesday and also called at the Garald Hart home.
Harry Wilson of Eau Claire called Saturday afternoon at the Arnold Matti home.
Dick Enerson of Dodgeville called Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold
Matti.
Kenneth Sheffer is now at home and feeling well, but will take it easy for
awhile.
Mrs. Minnie Nelson came home from the hospital Thursday and is feeling good.
Walter Jenswold of Eau Claire spent the weekend at his home here.
Mrs. Matie Smith was a dinner guest Sunday at the Archie Kirby home.
Mrs. Anita Markham spent Sunday at the Sylvester Taylor home in Mosinee.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hines were overnight guests of Mrs. Kate Dignin Friday. They
were on their way from their home in Bemidji, Mn, to Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Shara of Wisconsin Rapids Sunday called at the homes of Mrs.
Gladys Lightfoot and Mrs. Melvin Walker.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Blank of Milwaukee came Friday to spend a few days at the
home of her brother, Rudy Aeschbacher.
Mrs. Jacob Lightfoot and Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot visited in Marshfield Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nibbe left Monday for their home in Hobart, Ind., after
spending a week with her mother, Mrs. Kate Dignin. Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Nibbe
and Mrs. Dignin drove to Red Wing, Mn, to spend the day with Mr. Nibbe’s father
and two brothers.
Mrs. Helene Nelson and Mrs. Hilda Schneider of Eau Claire spent Sunday afternoon
at the Thane Joos home in rural Alma Center and also called at the Newton home
in Humbird.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fitzmaurice were in Neillsville Sunday to call on his brother,
Levi, who is in the hospital.
Mrs. DeWayne Parent and Steve drove to Thorp Saturday and, with her mother, Mrs.
Pirl Burrington, attended an auction sale in rural Thorp.
Mrs. Elmer Duerkop and Mrs. Emma Gerber drove to Eau Claire Monday morning to
take Alton Duerkop back to school at the university. He had spent the weekend
helping with the farm work at home.
Mrs. Freida Zerbel spent last week with her daughter, Mrs. Laverne Kaufman, in
rural Fairchild.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Heimple of Green Lake were guests Sunday of Mrs. Laura
Baumgartner. Mr. and Mrs. John Greub joined the group for a family visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Theiler and Mrs. Millie Trachsel were dinner guests Sunday of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Windsor in Black River Falls. Mrs. Windsor’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Virgil Klassy of new Glarus, also were guests.
Mrs. Maude Newton was a dinner guest Sunday at the Thane Joos home in rural Alma
Center.
Mrs. Emma Gerber came home Sunday night from a week’s visit in the homes of her
brother, John Aebersold in Rockford, Il., and her sister, Mrs. Wendell Riggs, in
Zion, Il.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe enjoyed a drive Sunday to Millston for dinner, then
across to Tomah and then Melrose for supper at the home of his sister, Mrs. Emma
Haag.
Mrs. Allen Stanley of Granton and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pierce of
Neillsville, were here Wednesday to call on Mrs. Elgie Hardwick and at the
Arnold Matti home.
Michael Putman, the small son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Putman, had major surgery
Thursday in the Black River Falls hospital and is coming along very well.
Friends of Art Allan, a former resident here, will be sorry to hear that he is a
patient in a Wisconsin Rapids hospital.
Mr. Raymond Stuve was taken to the Neillsville hospital Friday evening for care
and treatment.
