Meke, Peter (24 June 1941 - 20 September 1973)
Peter Meke, 32, of Milwaukee and formerly of Willard, was born in Yugoslavia
June 24, 1941, and died on September 20, in Milwaukee. He came to the United
States with his mother, brothers and sister in February, 1952. He lived with Mr.
and Mrs. Stanley Pekol and family for six years; later moved to Milwaukee, where
he lived with his family. He was the son of Mrs. Antonia Meke and the late Frank
Meke.
Funeral services were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Holy Family Catholic
Church in Willard. The Rev. Michael Mertens officiated. The casket was draped
with the United States flag, as he had served in the army. Burial was made in
the parish cemetery.
Surviving are his mother; three brothers, Michael of Rockford, Il.; John of
Cedar Grove and Frank of Milwaukee; and a sister, Mrs. Ray (Marge) Laurich of
Milwaukee.
Pallbearers were three brothers, Michael, John and Frank Meke, Ray Laurich, Rudy
Kotar and Victor Staut.
Those from away attending the services were: Mrs. Antonia Meke, Frank Meke, Mr.
and Mrs. Ray Laurich, and Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Kotar and family, all of Milwaukee;
Michael Meke of Rockford, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. John Meke of Cedar Grove; and John
Kotar of Duluth, Minn.
