Manglos, Florence "Flo" (Gillett) (26 MAY 1925 - 6 FEB 2015)
Florence "Flo" Manglos, of rural Sheldon, died Friday, February 6, 2015 at the
age of 90.
She was born in Birmingham, England on January 12, 1925 to Ellen Frances and
Henry James Gillett, the youngest of 8 children.
Flo worked at Cadbury Chocolates and Austin Motor Works in her younger years. It
was while she lived in Birmingham that she met Roy Manglos, an American soldier
stationed in England.
Flo was married to Roy in England on May 26, 1945. In March of 1995 Flo lost the
love of her life, just two months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. She
loved and missed him until the day of her death.
Flo had three daughters. She was an extraordinary mother who taught her children
love and life skills. The family moved to California where she worked in retail
and as a secretary of a large
food producing company. After moving back to Wisconsin she took on the job of
Treasurer for the Town of McKinley, a job she truly enjoyed.
In 2006 Flo moved to Delafield, Wisconsin to live with her daughter Sheryl and
son in law Mick, and close to her other daughter Ellen and her husband Brad. She
enjoyed traveling to Alaska, California, Puerto Rico, and many, many new
adventures with her daughters. She was an avid knitter, donating neck scarves
and mittens each year to the homeless and women's shelters. She loved flowers,
gardening, watching the birds and most of all people.
Flo was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, her husband Roy, and
her daughter Pamela. She is survived by two daughters, Sheryl (Mick) Mogensen of
Delafield, Ellen (Brad) Holmes of Milwaukee, seven grandchildren, seventeen
great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 14, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Jump River
Community Center with service to follow at noon. Burial will follow at the
Woodlawn Cemetery in Sheldon,
Wisconsin. A luncheon will be put on after the burial in the Jump River
Community Center. In lieu of memorials, the family suggests donations to the
Alzheimer's Association.
