Schremp, Erma (Smart) Mielke (24 SEP 1922 - 10 MAR 2015)
Erma Schremp, 92, Wausau, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Wausau
Manor.
She was born September 24, 1922 in Colby, daughter of the late Benjamin and Anna
(Schulz) Smart.
Erma lived most of her life in the Wausau area and worked at Marathon Electric,
Wausau Rubber Plant, Connor Lumber and John Muir Junior High School.
Following her retirement, she loved to sew, cook and garden. She also enjoyed
dancing, golfing, bowling and traveling.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Montgomery Plant Unit #10,
Wausau for 28 years.
Survivors include, one son Earl (Nancy) Mielke, Hudson; one daughter, Sheila
(Fred) Paul, Yorktown, Va.; three grandchildren, Jason (Susan) Paul, Chelsea,
Ala., Greg (Lisa) Mielke, Hudson and Meghan (Ben) Gehrke, Fort Worth, Tex.; six
great-grandchildren, Aidan, Ashton and Andrew Paul, Madeline and Maren Mielke,
and Griffin Gehrke; one brother, Lea (Merceda) Smart, Colby; and one
brother-in-law, Leonard (Francis) Mielke, West Covina, Calif.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence
Mielke; her second husband, Joseph Schremp; and one sister, Norma Schillinger.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at First
English Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Erik Olson will officiate. Entombment will
be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may
call on Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400
Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of
services at the church. There will be an American Legion Auxiliary Service at
6:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to First English Lutheran
Church where she was a member for over 70 years—and always loved to sit in the
back.
Special thanks to all of the wonderful doctors, nurses and caregivers that
attended to Erma for the past eight years—the family is sincerely appreciative.
