The Clark County Historical Society completed organization at a meeting in
Greenwood Thursday evening. Officers and a board of directors were elected, the
objectives of the organization were established, and the 1965 program was set
up.
The next meeting will be held July 8 in the grade school in Withee, at 8 p.m.,
at which meeting William Schereck, Madison, will present the charter. Mr.
Schereck is a staff member of the Wis. Historical Society. There will also be an
additional program. The meeting will be open to members and non-members.
Membership is open to all at $1 per year dues. Anyone desiring membership is
asked to send $1 and name to Natalie Scherf, Withee. All members registered
before September 1 will be charter members.
The officers elected include: Miss Violet Teepels, president; Mrs. Pearl Vorland,
Colby, first vice-president; Mrs. Marten Keskimaki, Withee, second vice
president; Miss Natalie Scherf, Withee, treasurer; Jess W. Scott, Neillsville,
secretary.
The board of directors are: Emil Kostner, Thorp; Mrs. Anita Bergstrom, Owen;
Mrs. Shirley Thompson, Greenwood; Jess W. Scott, Neillsville; Mrs. Pearl Vorland,
Colby; Mrs. Catherine Hansen, Withee; Mrs. Esther Schmidtke, Granton; Mrs. E.C.
Haslow, Chili; Kurt Listeman, Neillsville, J.R. Thomas, Loyal; Myron Fritsch,
Withee; Mrs. Eva Laffe, Humbird; Harland Bergemann, Greenwood; Mrs. Phyllis
Conrad, Longwood; Wallace Wood, town of Hixon; Mrs. R.F. Hughes, Owen; Miss
Flora Bartholomew, Withee; Arthur Thompson, Curtiss.
The society plans to establish historical markers in Clark County, develop and
write histories of all areas of the county, preserved early pioneer items,
pictures, clippings, letter books, booklets and other material relating to
pioneer Clark County.
Organizations, industries and individuals are invited to make donations to the
society. Everyone is invited to the July 8 meeting in Withee.
