Mr. and Mrs. John Lilliskov of St. Paul spent a few days here visiting friends.
They visited in the Warren Van Kirk home, and with the Arnold Matti’s and
Ellsworth Boblers.
Louis Greub and a fellow teacher and student of River Falls, drove to Madison
Sunday, stopping enroute to call at the John Greub home. The group was to give a
demonstration of a phase of their school work in Madison Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Kirby left Thursday for St. Paul and Friday attended the
marriage of their son, Mike Kirby, in the Little Brown Church in Iowa. They came
home Sunday afternoon.
Saturday, Nordahl Fristad, Alma Zimmerman, Harriette Gorst and Maude Newton
attended the Rebekah fall convention in Eau Claire. Mr. Fristad attended the
district Odd Fellows meeting in the forenoon.
Mrs. Donna Diercks and children of rural Marshfield were here Saturday to spend
the day with her mother, Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot, and called on her sister, Mrs.
Mel Walker.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Washburn and daughter spent Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Anita
Markham.
Charley Fees, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett, drove to Cottonwood,
S.D., last Thursday and was to come home today (Thursday). Mr. Fees and Mrs.
Pickett are doing some carpenter work for his sister-in-law, Mrs. Hazelett.
Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Aeschbacher were weekend guests of their daughter, Mrs.
Phillip Carroll, in Lombard, Il. During their absence Mr. and Mrs. Al Blank of
Milwaukee took care of things around the Aeschbacher home.
Mrs. Emma Gerber, Mrs. Freida Zerbel and Art Christen visited Sunday afternoon
at the Fred Rupnow home. Mr. Rupnow is now getting about in the house with the
aid of a walker.
Mr. and Mrs. John Phillips were weekend guests in Wisconsin Rapids at the Art
Allen home. Mr. Allen is now in a nursing home.
Mrs. Nina Stuve came home Friday from the Neillsville hospital and is about the
same.
Word has been received that Craig Adams, son of Mrs. Dewey Lang, is one of those
taking part in a four nation, Pacific Allied naval exercise. This exercise is
designed to test all phases of Allied Naval operations. He is stationed in the
Hawaiian Islands. Other nations taking part are Canada, Australia and New
Zealand.
Lyle Kitelinger is a patient in the Black River Falls hospital. He has been
under extensive care and still is in serious condition with a ruptured appendix.
Mrs. Nellie Raether from Washington state visited at the Howell Stuve home in
Owen last week and is now visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Stallard.
Mr. and Mrs. Stallard will take her to Minneapolis today (Thursday) where she
will visit at the home of Mrs. Gladys Fowler.
Mrs. Sylvester Taylor returned to Mosinee Friday after spending a week at the
home of Mrs. Anita Markham.
Mrs. Perle Pickett enjoyed having her three granddaughters from Hixton with her
Friday and Saturday. Sunday, their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Burnett of
Hixton, had dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Pickett and took their daughters home. Mr.
and Mrs. Kenneth Burnett and their two sons from Hixton also were dinner and
afternoon guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Polege of Fairbanks, Ia., came Wednesday and were over-night
guests in the Ted Polege home. Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller of Waterloo,
Ia., came to spend until Monday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ted Polege.
Mrs. Harland Meyers and two daughters of Cedar Falls spent Friday with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Polege.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe spent the long weekend at the home of her sister, Mrs.
Kurt Schlei.
Mr. and Mrs. John Phillips of Eau Claire were afternoon and supper guests Sunday
in the Levi Fitzmaurice home. They recently returned from a trip to Alaska,
where they visited their son.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pierce of Neillsville called at the Arnold Matti home Tuesday
while on the way to Fairchild to see her cousin, who had suffered a bad burn.
Mr. and Mrs. William Dignin of Nova, Oh, took his mother, Mrs. Laura Dignin,
home with them Sunday to stay for two or three weeks.
Levi Fitzmaurice was taken to Memorial Hospital at Neillsville Friday for care
and treatment. He expects to undergo surgery in October in a Rochester hospital.
Miss Connie Printz spent the weekend at home from her school work in Owen, where
she teaches.
Mrs. Emma O’Leary is much better and back from the hospital and has returned to
the Earl DeLong home.
