The revival of a Medford business, dead for more than four years, was seen this
week as arrangements were completed for the sale of the Medford brewery.
E. J. Young, Rice Lake, and George H. Lanser of Portland, Oregon, have purchased
the concern and will consider operations as soon as the total required capitol
is subscribe for, according to George Meyer, who was instrumental in bringing
the two parties together.
As explained by Meyer, the two men will invest $10,000 of their own capital,
providing an additional $5,000 can be obtained through the sale of 5 per cent
preferred stock, to be purchased by local citizens.
In addition, the Pauley corporation, which assumed the mortgage at the time the
brewery was first organized, has taken a new loan of $8,000, which will
represent a first lien on the property.
Meyer explained that the old lien would be paid off from the proceeds of the
sale. The property was appraised last July at about $48,000.
