Ford, Joy Sue (26 JUN 1965)

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, was the scene of a wedding Saturday, June 26, 1965, and the Rev. Leroy Urman officiated. It was the marriage of Miss Joy Sue Ford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Ford of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), and Gary Harold Hoffmann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hoffmann, also residents of Withee.

The wedding took place at 2 p.m. and the bride was given in marriage by her father. Mrs. Herman Rabska was at the organ and Pat Simon sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “Wedding Prayer.” Baskets of peonies were placed with candles at each side of the altar.

The floor length gown of peau satin with a scalloped neckline of lace and braid work and a fitted bodice, with the skirt fashioned with lace down the front and side and tiered in the back, forming a chapel train, was chosen by the bride for her wedding. Her headpiece was a crown set with crystals, to which was attached a silk illusion veil. She carried a cascade of pink and white carnations.

Serving as bridal aides were Miss Stella Hoffmann of Withee, as maid of honor, and Miss Alice Andersen of Owen as bridesmaid. They were gowned in floor length pink satin brocade fashioned with fitted bodices and bell skirts. Each carried a colonial arrangement of pink and white carnations and had matching headpiece.

Kenneth Grube of Owen served as best man in the groom’s party. Bruce hero of Milwaukee was the groomsman, and Norbert Hoffmann and James Brassow ushered.

Following the ceremony a reception took place in the church dining hall, with the dance that evening being at the Legion Hall in Owen.

The couple is graduated from Owen-Withee High School, she in 1965 and he in 1962. Mr. Hoffman is employed at Pathfinder Mobile Home Inc. at Spencer. They will make their home in Owen.

Out of town guests came from Milwaukee, Athens, Dorchester, Curtiss and from Hoyt Lakes and Embarrass, Minn.
