Jerina, Mary (5 DEC 1882 – 5 JUL 1965)
Mrs. Mary Jerina, 82, of 833 Washington Park, passed away on Monday, July 5,
1965 in St. Theresa Hospital after an illness of one month.
Born Dec. 5, 1882 in Yugoslavia, Mrs. Jerina came to this county in 1905. She
resided on a farm south of Owen until 1946, and then moved to Waukegan, Ill.
Mrs. Jerina was a member of the Mother of God Church and the Christian Mother’s
Society. She also belonged to the Royal Neighbors of America.
Surviving are two sons, Freed and Frank, both of Waukegan; six daughters, Mrs.
William (Mary) Kinsey of North Chicago, Mrs. Frank (Emma) Merlock, Mrs. John
(Sophie) Mivshek, Mrs. Jennie Mulligan, Mrs. Wilbert (Frances) Hemersbach and
Mrs. Anthony (Anne) Lesnak, all of Waukegan; 22 grandchildren and 8
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday from the funeral home to Mother of God
Church for requiem mass at 9 a.m. Burial was in Ascension Cemetery.
Mrs. Jerina’s husband, John, preceded her in death in 1958.
