Zimmerman, Virginia A. (8 JUN 1917 – 29 MAR 2015)

Virginia A. Zimmerman, 97, formerly of Owen, died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Hospital-Stanley. She was born on June 8, 1917 in Nebraska the daughter of the late James and Bessie (Schelly) Martin. Gyn grew up in Nebraska and married Herbert Zimmerman on April 2, 1933. The couple moved to Illinois for a time and then to the Owen area. She worked for the Colby nursing home for many years. Gyn loved crocheting, sewing, yardwork and being with family.

She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Wollberg of El Paso, IL and Dee (James) Hatlestad of Stanley, five grandchildren, Kevin Gage of Pasadena, CA, Kent (Janine) Gaede of Stevens Point, John (Patti) West of Chenoa, IL, and Debra (Lanny) Stewart of El Paso, IL, 5 step-grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, twelve great-great-grandchildren, a sister Phyllis Bartlet of Salinas, CA and one brother, Virgil Marin of Lincoln, NE. Gyn is preceded in death by her husband, parents, a granddaughter, Tammy Gaede, two great-grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 3PM on Thursday, April, 16th, 2015 at the Plombon Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior.
