Malin George Konieczny was born on May 21, 1925 in Thorp, WI, to Joe and
Josephine (Rzetelney) Konieczny. He was raised on the family farm and received
his education at Pineland School. Malin moved to Chicago in the late 1940’s, and
it was there that he met the love of his life, Lillian Burzinski. Malin served
in the Korean War from 1951 to 1952. He was an Army Staff Sergeant in the 38th
Infantry, 2nd Division. Upon his return from the service, he was united in
marriage to Lillian Burzinski on June 22, 1953, in Thorp, WI. In 1957, they
moved back to Thorp and purchased the family farm. While farming, Malin also
worked for the Town of Withee as a truck driver and grader operator. He retired
from farming in 1978 and worked at Teledyne in Owen, until his retirement.
Malin loved polka music. To honor his request, a polka band will play in the
afternoon at the American Legion Hall. Besides polka music, Malin was an avid
newspaper reader of current events, gardener, and weather watcher. He also was a
member of the Thorp American Legion and Knights of Columbus. Malin loved to
travel and recently spent time in Florida, Michigan and attended many polka
festivals.
He will be dearly missed by his six children: Karen (Nile) Schaefer of Woodbury,
MN, Nancy (Daniel) Tolzmann of Owen, Susan (John) Kiraly of Stanley, Ronald
(Sheila) Konieczny of Tomah, Gary (Naomi) Konieczny of Abbotsford, Duane (Rita)
