Tkachuk, Lydia Mary (29 November 1923 - 11 April 2015)
Lydia M. Tkachuk, age 91, Lublin, WI, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015,
at Miller Alternative Care, in Thorp, WI, where she has resided the past four
years. Private family services were held.
Lydia Mary Jaeger was born November 29, 1923, in the Town of Arthur, Cadott,
(Chippewa Co.), WI to Carl and Mary (Sedivy) Jaeger. In 1929, the family moved
to the Gilman area where Lydia attended and graduated from the Gilman School
district.
Lydia married Mike Tkachuk, of Lublin, WI, on November 18, 1943, in Medford, WI.
Along with raising her family, Lydia worked side by side with her husband on
their farm, in the Lublin area, until their retirement. They were well known for
their Guernsey cows.
She loved to tend to her many flower and vegetable gardens. Hosting and cooking
for family gatherings was her specialty. She enjoyed feeding and watching birds
and was a member of the Chequamegon Bird Club. She also enjoyed crossword and
picture puzzles, playing Scrabble, and listening to country music.
Lydia is survived by one sister, Wilma Mravik; and two brothers: Raymond
(Delores) and Rudy Jaeger, all of Gilman. She is also survived by her children:
Jeanette (Phillippe) Challe of Plaisir, France, Marilyn (Tilton) Tkachuk-Davis
of Red Wing, MN, Michael (Sue) Tkachuk of Elk Mound, and Raymond (Tracy) Tkachuk
of Lublin; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mike on January 3, 2011;
and a half-sister, Florence (Jaeger) Martin in 1993.
The family would like to thank the staff at Miller Alternative Care for the
wonderful home-style care they provided to Lydia.
Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
