A barn on a farm owned by Ray McNeely, route 1, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), was
destroyed by fire Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 5, 1865. It was believed to have
started by spontaneous combustion.
Mrs. McNeely said the fire was discovered by Felix Krause who rents the house on
the property sometime between 10 and 10:30 a.m.
There were no animals in the barn, but a considerable amount of hay was lost.
There were 70 head of young stock kept on that farm, but they were in the
pasture at the time of the fire. There was no insurance on the building.
