Hamel. Gaylord E. (24 OCT 1897 – 28 NOV 1965)
Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral
Home for Gaylord Ernest Hamel, 68, route 2, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), who died
Monday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. Sheldon D. Seltzer of the Seventh
Day Adventist Church in Marshfield officiated and burial was made in the
Riverside Cemetery at Withee.
Pallbearers were Rex Copper, Walter Nowak, Russell Westendorf, David McVey,
Henry Gereau Jr. and Leo Gereau.
Mr. Hamel was born Oct. 24, 1897 at North Lake, Neb., and worked for 34 years as
an attendant in a veterans Hospital in California. In 1960 he moved to New
Richmond and was employed there at the county hospital until his retirement in
1962. Since then he had made his home with his sister, Mrs. Mabel Baker, route
2, Withee. He was married twice. Both wives preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Vern (Alice) Overby, Nevada City, Calif.; two
sisters, Mrs. Mabel Baker, route 2, Withee; and Mrs. Phillip Tentzling, Shell
Beach, Calif.; and three brothers, Mahlon, Arpin; Courtland and Royalle, Withee.
He also was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
