Juntunen, Frank I. (15 JUN 1883 – 21 NOV 1965)
Frank Israel Juntunen passed away Nov. 21, 1965 at Lake Worth General Hospital
in Florida. Death was attributed to complications following major surgery.
He was born at Soumussalmi, Finland on June 15, 1883. In 1907 he came to
America, settling at Hancock, Mich. On February 23, 1911 he was united in
marriage to Hilda Juntunen. Farming was the occupation he pursued until his
retirement from the farm, when they moved to Lake Forest, Ill., where he worked
for 12 years at the Lake Forest Academy. Nine years ago he retired from that
position.
In recent years he had made his home in Lake Worth, Fla., returning here for the
summer months to visit his family.
Funeral services were conducted from McRae Lakeside Chapel in Lake Worth on Nov.
24. His body was sent to Miami to be cremated.
Two sons, Eugene and Wiljo, flew out of Wausau Monday to attend the services and
returned home Friday evening.
Mr. Juntunen is survived by his wife, Hilda; three sons, Eugene, Wiljo and Leo,
and a daughter, Katherine, all of rural Curtiss; and a sister, Rita, still
living in Finland.
