Bell, Kermit Wendel (7 January 1904 - 11 October 1973)

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home for a retired Town of Weston Farmer, Kermit Wendel Bell, 69, of Rt. 3, Neillsville, who died October 11. The Rev. LeRoy Gross of the Missionary Baptist Church, Greenwood, officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Kermit Bell, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bell, was born January 7, 1904, at Pierson, Ia., and was educated there. He did farm work in Iowa and worked in Waukegan, Il., for the Johns-Mansfield Company for several years. His marriage to the former Mabel Kautenberg took place January 19, 1946, in Wheaton, Il. (I Think this should read 1936 for their marriage.)

For a time, Mr. Bell farmed at Antigo. The Bells came to Clark County and farmed in the Town of Weston from 1953-1963, when he retired because of failing health. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church at Greenwood.

Surviving, in addition to his wife are two children, Mrs. Jerry (Louadell) Smith of Waukegan, Il., and Bob Bell of Rt. 3 Neillsville; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Fred Wall, Bertie Schultz, Ed Holub, Erwin Toburen, Leon Kuester and William Hoffmann. ‘In The Garden’ and ‘Just As I Am’ were sung by Mrs. LeRoy Gross. Mrs. Earl Richardson was the accompanist.

Among those attending the services were the following from out of town: Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Smith, Lorri and Robin, Maude Kleffman, Mrs. Jennie Dillon, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Schaefer, Mrs. Margaret Huberger and Mr. and Mrs. Ford McDonald, Waukegan, Il.; Mrs. Hazel Hetsel, Chicago, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Krueger, Wauconda, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Schmidt, Alma; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Herriod, New London; Mrs. Elmer Frick, Mrs. Anna Weisshahn and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Weisshahn, Gleason; Miss Louise Scheel and the Misses Petra and Helene Kalsow of St. Paul, Mn.; the Rev. and Mrs. Victor Gross and family, West Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kurz and family, Spencer; Melvin W. F. Hoffmann, Hawaii; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wilson, Belvidere, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Leopold and sons, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McDonald, Taylor; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Thompson, Rockford, Il.; Carl Klinke, Oshkosh.

Many from the Neillsville and Greenwood areas were also in attendance.
