Van Tatenhove, James M. (Promotion - 1973)

James M. Van Tatenhove, an area native and graduate of Neillsville High School, has joined Kaufman and Broad, Inc., the nation’s largest multi-national housing producer, as vice president, controller, Pres. Eugene S. Rosenfeld announced this week. He is responsible for supervising, the company’s accounting, tax, management control systems and financial planning analysis departments.

‘Mr. Van Tatenhove brings a distinguished educational and professional background to Kaufman and Broad,’ Rosenfeld said. ‘His expertise will provide us with a solid base of financial and planning controls for the continuation of our growth.’

Van Tatenhove was most recently a divisional vice president of business management for Rockwell International Corporation. Prior to his association with Rockwell in 1961, he was a member of Haskins & Sells CPA firm for five years.

He earned a M.B.A. degree from the University of Washington, graduating with the highest honors. As an undergraduate, he completed a double major in mathematics and education at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, receiving the University’s prestigious Elliot Award as outstanding senior. In addition, while studying for his M.B.A. at the University of Washington, he completed the requirements for a B. A. in accounting.

Van Tatenhove is a member of the California society and the American Institute of CPA’s as well as the National Association of Accountants.

Listed on the New York Stock Exchange, Kaufman and Broad is America’s largest multinational housing producer. It currently has 82 housing developments underway in 57 cities in northern California, southern California, Illinois, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Canada, France and West Germany. Manufacturing operations include a pre-cut housing subsidiary, which delivers custom-designed homes factory-direct to owners of individual lots, and mobile home plants from coast-to-coast. The Financial Services Group includes Sun Life Insurance Company of America, Kaufman and Broad Asset Management, Inc. and International Mortgage Company.
