Winkel, William H. (2 OCT 1885 – 27 JAN 1966)
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rice Lake Funeral Home for
William H. Winkel, 80, a former Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.) area resident, who
died of a heart attack Thursday at Rice Lake.
Mr. Winkel was born Oct. 2, 1885, at Stockbridge, and received his education
there. He was a farmer in the Curtiss and Green Grove area, and in his early
days was a cook in the logging camps. Since 1946 he had made his home in Rice
Lake. His first wife preceded him in death in 1957.
Survivors include his second wife, a son, Axel Winkel, Colby; a sister, Mrs.
Edmond (Hattie) Thede, Abbotsford; two brother, Carl Winkel, Rice Lake, and
Herman Winkel, Chilton; three granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two children in infancy, two sisters, and three
brothers.
Attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Alex Winkel and son, Darrel, Colby; Mr.
and Mrs. Roger Carlson, Marshfield; Mrs. Janice Dassow, Medford; Miss Mardell
Winkel, Menomonie; Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Thedes, Abbotsford; and Leroy Thede,
Marshfield.
