1897 Clark County Jail Museum (April Monthly Meeting - 2015)
The monthly membership and board of directors meeting of the 1897 Clark County
Jail Museum was held at the museum April 7, 2015.
After the reports of the secretary and treasurer, president Steve Roberts
reported on the preparations for the upcoming summer season, starting with the
yearly meeting May 9, which is open to anyone interested in the museum. Spring
cleaning is underway. A few school tours have been scheduled in May before the
seasonal opening to the public.
The board approved covering the cost of the National History Day shirts for
local students participating in the state competition.
The Clark County Community Foundation Inc. will share a booth with the museum at
the Clark County Fair again this year.
The museum is working constantly to keep up with the acquisitions and donations
and getting them properly accessioned and recorded. This includes more and more
photos from the turn of the last century. The museum website includes a link to
Facebook where the latest photos may be seen.
The ‘Images of Clark County’ book continues to be sold on Facebook and on eBay.
A new display is in the planning for the second floor. Come and see what’s new
this year at the historic sheriff’s residence and Clark County Jail.
New community volunteers with some extra time to spare are welcome to help out,
as little or as much as desired. Call any of the officers or the museum office
(715-743-2150) if wishing to help out or to see the collection for research
purposes. The museum’s website (www.1897clarkcountyjailmuseum.com) and Facebook
page (www.facebook.com/1897CCJM) are available for visitors and researchers to
use.
The public and interested new members or volunteers are always welcome to attend
the monthly meetings, which are held the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.
at the Museum, located at 215 East Fifth St., Neillsville.
