Navy Ensign James H. Wendt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Wendt of Owen (Clark
Co., Wis.), has made his first solo flight in a T2A "Buckeye" jet trainer
aircraft while undergoing flight training with Training Squadron Seven (VT-7) at
the Naval Auxiliary Air Station in Meridian, Miss.
He "soloed" after having flown approximately 18 hours of dual instruction at the
air station's McCain Field.
VT-7 is a basic flight training squadron, using the Buckeye for training future
Navy and Marine Corps pilots in basic flight, instrument flying and formation
flying.
A graduate of Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., Ens. Wendt entered the
service in June 1965.
